Global One Health Day

Global One Health Day

The integral connections between human, animal and environmental health require a coordinated ‘One Health' approach to help protect the health and survival of wild populations. The international One Health Day on November 3rd marks a coordinated international campaign to bring attention to the importance and value of One Health for environmental conservation, domestic animals and human populations. Through ongoing information sharing with partners in the human health, agriculture, and biodiversity communities, the IUCN SSC Wildlife Health Specialist Group actively advances One Health in practice. Toward a One Health approach, the IUCN-OIE Guidelines to Wildlife Disease Risk Analysis and associated Manual of Procedures provide guidance on proactive measures that can be taken to anticipate and mitigate disease risks to wildlife given growing pressures from wildlife trade, habitat loss, and other drivers of disease and biodiversity loss.
